From Bogotá, we took an evening flight to Cartagena. The distance isn't too long but it takes a lot of time to drive because of the ups and downs of the Andes. At the Cartagena airport we saw a news story playing about how at the RNC Melania plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech at the DNC. Arriving in Cartagena, we immediately felt the tropical weather that was so different than in Bogotá. It was hot and humid and lush! From the airport, we took another Uber to the hotel where we spent the night close to the airport.
After breakfast in the morning, we met Manuel the house manager at the Airbnb house that we rented on Isla Barú. Manuel went with us in a taxi to a supermarket where we purchased all of the food (except for seafood) that we would need for our 3-night stay. I, of course, chose tons and tons of fruit. It was great to see all of the exotic tropical fruit. By purchasing the food ourselves, we ensured that we got a sufficient amount of vegetables.
