Today was John's only free day in Bogotá, and our only full weekend day, and we took full advantage of the day. Our first activity was to rent bikes and ride on Bogotá's awesome cyclovia. Bogotá has horrendous traffic but it also has a vibrant biking community. There are bike paths throughout much of the city, even one that goes along the highway for most of the way to Bogotá's airport. A lot of people commute by bike. I definitely would if I lived in the city. On Sundays until 2:00pm, a number of the city's main streets are blocked off exclusively for bike traffic and pedestrians. We were surprised by the large number of people who used the cyclovia. It was fun. It was a quick way to get from Zona G to Usaquén (a distance that would have taken much longer during weekday auto traffic).
